AWAKE TEXAS 

AWAKE was founded in 2010 by Dr. Hoo Kim, who had a passion for campus ministry. Dr. Kim had prior experience with campus worship from when he was an undergraduate student himself, and was greatly impacted by it. When he first came to UT Austin, he was surprised to find that a campus ministry for Korean students did not exist. After praying, and with the help of his fellow church friend, he began contacting local Korean churches to share his vision of campus worship. Through the development of relationships between pastors and spiritual leaders, he publicly created AWAKE and held the first worship in 2010. It slowly spread around Koreans in campus. It was a slow beginning. At  times, there were only two people who would show up for worship. Though discouraged, they were not defeated. The first founders of AWAKE continued to pray and serve for the vision God had planted in them. Today, over a hundred of Korean students from different churches gather at our AWAKE services to be united under Christ and to bring worship to our campus. As God led Dr. Kim 6 years ago to fulfill his plan, He leads us still today to complete the good work He has started in us.
